Image result for 2018 nutrition month theme

We celebrate Nutrition Month every July. And the theme for this year (2018) is "Ugaliing magtanim, sapa na nutrisyon aanihin". And did you know that this was created by Ms. Julie Ann Q. Colipano, a contestant from Valencia City, Bukidnon. Out of 142 entries, this was selected by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) of the Philippines.

This theme focuses on food production at home through the family's own garden. This is the food planted at home (inside or outside your home), in your little backyard or farm. The Nutrition Month Theme 2018 aims to improve the healthy food consumption of Filipinos, food security or to be self-sufficient as possible with backyard gardening.

Having food gardens can help improve the family as well as the community's food security. If you have plenty of vegetables or fruit crops, you can even sell some of them to earn additional income for the family. Remember that this year's Nutrition Month central theme surrounds on the idea of family food gardening. So, we must plant vegetables and fruits and eat healthy foods so that we will not get sick. And also, to all youngsters or students like me out there, I Encourage you to participate in some activities like planting or simply plant in your backyard. Let's start planting now!

An Open Letter To President Duterte

HIS EXCELLENCY
RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE
President - Republic of the Philipines
MalacaƱang Palace, Manila

Dear Mr. President,

Greetings, Mr. President! It's been already two years since you were selected as the president of our country, Philippines. Within two years, you have done many good things for our country, like about the war on drugs. Your war on drugs comes from your desire to save the future of young people like me and to make sure that our country does not become a narco-state. I just want to tell you Mr. President that the good thing I admire about you is that it is clear that you really love our country and your people so much. I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt that all your statements either good or bad have come from a deep longing for genuine and lasting change to happen in our country. Many of us, your people, believe and trust in you. I hope that you will not disappoint us. And about your saying "Change is coming", I hope you will keep that and be responsible of what you have said, Mr. President. I also hope you can make more good doings and make our country better and good and continue doing a lot of good things for the best of our country.

Respectfully Yours,
Priza Mae Tugade

Philippine Independence Day: A Celebration of Progress Through Peace and Freedom

Image result for phil independence day

Why do we celebrate Philippine Independence? We celebrate Independence in order to pay tribute to the sacrifices that our countrymen and heroes did. Our country Philippines had been colonized by other countries especially Spain for how many years. Our countrymen and heroes really fought hard in order to achieve our freedom and peace for our country. And here are some of the most known heroes.

We all know that Dr. Jose Rizal is our national hero. But the way he fought for our country is by writing. We also know Andres Bonifacio who fought through or by using sword. And not to mention all the heroes, we also know that our countrymen or "kababayan" are our heroes who really did sacrifices their selves. Thinking about our country's freedom more than their selves. If you want or I mean have to fight for your freedom, you must gain strength, power, courage and bravery. Without all of this, you will not achieve it and nothing will happen and will be forever slaved by the ones who colonized us.

So, to all the youngsters out there, we must not make fun of our heroes like editing their pictures into something disrespectful. You or we should respect them. And celebrate the Independence by looking back on all the good deeds and sacrifices our heroes and countrymen did and also with respect. Like what Dr. Jose Rizal said, " Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan".
