REFLECTION: FOURTH GRADING LESSONS

In our final quarter, I've learned about a lot of things, especially about image editing using Photoshop. We learned about the tools, filters, panels and other equipments that Photoshop has. We reported and demonstrated on how to edit images using Photoshop. We watched video tutorials for guiding us in editing images. Our teacher gave us an activity or project about editing images using Photoshop and it's about promoting our own school.

But of course, I still encountered some problems but thanks to my classmates they helped me with it. It was fun editing images using Photoshop. And hopefully, in the future, I can apply all the things I've learned about image editing.

My Dream, My Future

"Live your values, Pursue your dreams, and Follow your passions." This really implies the true ways we must do to have the best future life we could possibly have. Seeing through around the earth, we will find all kinds of people exist in this world. I think why those people are different from each other might be a difficult task to study--which factor influences and drives them different. It is lucky that I am the one among them so I know that mine is my dream.

Over my life time I would like to achieve many things but there are three main things I would like to accomplish; to be a better person, help my loving parents, and especially to serve my fellows. I have been exhilarating by my dream, from the day I knew why I came into the world to so far and even in future, which is making me different from others. It is a goal, an aim, a direction for my life. It is not strange from outside, but from inside.

It is to be a nurse. At first, I could hardly decide what I want to be in the future because there are so many choices painted in my mind. But at this time, I am at the crossroads where I have to make decisions especially at my choice of course in the college and at the same time, my profession. With all the sacrifices that my parents are exerting just to send me in school, I don't have reasons not to give my bests all the time.

At that time, I have my job and I have something to make them feel so proud of me, I would like to give them the best life. I would like to make them feel comfortable and see sweet smiles in their faces. This is really the one I like to achieve in my life, mountains of words can't explain how much I love and appreciate them. With all of my knowledge and values learned, I would like to share these to my fellows especially to those youths, in the future, by serving them with unconditional, whole-hearted and without any ambiguity or doubts.

This really shows our compassion and charitable heart for others. Simple dreams of mine for others but worth living reasons for me. I, together with my parents, have a simple means of living; but because of firm determnation, strong faith in God, good values and virtues I assure that we will have the bests of life in the future not because of the luxuries but the richness of love, compassion for people and passion for God. These are my dreams, my inspiration which I have to work on for the future.

117th ISNHS High School Day Celebration

High School Day is the most awaited and the busiest occasion celebrated in school. It is the time to commemorate the birth of the school. This year marks the 117th High School Day Celebration. There is a great deal of hurried activities, boundless excitement and participation that awaits the participants for the event. Students are thrilled to participate in dfferent activities. Even those who are not actively participating in the event are elated to have a field day, not having classes, just chilling and enjoying funfilled day at school.

Preparation starts ahead of time. The different activities in store for the students are highly anticipated. Long rehearsals are done to master the pieces to be presented, if not showcased in perfection.

On March 1, 2019 in the afternoon, the Coronation Ceremonies was done first. Here, the King and Queen and their Princes and Princesses were given honor. The highlight of the event is the field demonstration that happened on March 2, 2019. Everyone is excited and rooting for their own bet to who will win the school's field demonstration. Both Grade 8 boys and girls won the school's field demonstration. Although we didn't win, I would like to congratulate them and to all Grade levels who participated.

KANNAWIDAN FESTIVAL

Kannawidan is a festivity which the City of Vigan celebrates every year. In this festival, the Ilocano people showcase cultural shows, native products and the talents of the Ilocanos. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival became an annual festival that aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province’ rich cultural heritage, practices and traditions, and a showcase of the different agriculture and industry products of the province. There is a need to preserve our rich heritage and unique culture. With this in mind, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur has conceived a festival that highlights these culture and traditions and attract local and foreign tourists as well. Dubbed the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, it is also a commemoration of the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as a province.

This festival is very significant to every resident in the province as they are celebrating the foundation of Ilocos Sur as a province by virtue of the Royal Decree signed in February 2,1818. Ilocos Sur especially in Vigan is branded as the Heart of of Ilocandia by the Philippine Historical Committee. It's a province very rich in culture and heritage. Kannawidan means traditions and this province got to showcase all what it has.

They displayed their talents as well as their indigenous costumes. Trade Fair showcased the products of the province such as longanisa, bagnet, garlic, bibingka, tinubong and many other foods including handicrafts. Choir competition was held. Showcasing also the beauty of the Iloconas- the Saniata. We must be proud of being an Ilocano because even foreigners admire our culture and traditions. This festival reminds us not to forget about our culture and traditions.

CHANGE: IT STARTS WITH ME

Blessed with intellect and a set of skills, we, the human race, have been placed on Earth for a purpose, and it is our duty in life to discover exactly what that purpose is. As stated in the Bible, “to whom much is given, much is expected.” I believe giving back to society is, quite simply, a responsibility.

Changing the world begins with improving who we are on the inside. We each have a unique identity and our own distinct thoughts. These thoughts often propel us to act. So, by mindfully centering our thoughts in a positive direction, we can improve our actions and thus our character.

I can improve the world by consciously looking around and thinking, at every opportunity, how can I help? The most powerful way one can change the world isn’t simply by doing one thing, but instead is a way of life revolving around the concept of altruism. While some may side with the philosopher Hobbes and argue that every act is tainted by primal human desires of remembrance and power, and thus is not truly selfless, I disagree. Charitable acts are not selfish because they improve our society as a whole.

The positive impact I can make starts within myself; by becoming a truly giving person, I can change the world. While self-improvement may seem a passive process, it’s actually a challenge requiring daily practice. It involves continually controlling my thoughts and actions to determine the type of person I want to be. My mission to positively change the world begins with self-improvement and concludes with making kind acts an instinctive part of my life.

NEW YEAR, NEW ME?

Each and every year, the phrase ‘New year, new me’ sweeps social media. And every January, I see an influx of people admitting they’ve failed their resolutions just a few days in. I think it’s about time we put this whole idea that a new year makes you a different person to bed. Because let’s face it, the only thing that really changes is the date.

For some people, all they want to do is put the year behind them and focus on the next one. But we seem to have this idea that going into a new year immediately eliminates all the bad that happened the year prior. We make all these plans to start our ‘new’ selves, and we punish ourselves for not keeping to those plans as we fall back into the same ways of the year before. It’s about time we stopped focusing on the calendar, and stop it with the time limits altogether. It seems silly to give yourself a time limit to change. It piles on pressure to start right away and make drastic decisions. But the ‘new year, new me’ pressure means we tell ourselves off for it, and make ourselves feel guilty. Which, in turn, only puts us off keeping to resolutions in the long-run.

This is the only way we’re able to actually change our bodies and our lifestyles and stick to it – knowing that there’s no rush, that you have time and that you’re not a failure if it takes you longer than you thought.

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities For All

"The earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it"

From its inception, the League of Women Voters has worked for equal rights and social reform. In the early years, the League was one of the first organizations to address such issues as child welfare, maternal and child health programs, child labor protection and laws that discriminated against women.

Employment opportunities in modern, technological societies are closely related to education. Therefore, the League supports programs to increase the education and training of disadvantaged people. The League supports federal, state and local efforts to prevent and/or remove discrimination in education, employment and housing and to help communities bring about racial integration of their school systems.

The LWV supports equal rights for all regardless of sex. The League supports action to bring laws into compliance with the ERA: to eliminate or amend those laws that have the effect of discriminating on the basis of sex, to promote laws that support the goals of the ERA, and to strengthen the enforcement of such existing laws.

It is valuable to have programs that would inform individuals of their civil rights in education, employment and housing and of the opportunities open to them.

Opportunities for purchase or renting of homes and for borrowing money for housing should not be restricted because of discriminatory reasons such as race, color, sex, religion or national origin. Responsibility in the nationwide effort to achieve equality of opportunity for access to housing resides with government at all levels and with the private sector — builders, lending institutions, realtors, labor unions, business and industry, news media, civic organizations, educational institutions, churches and private citizens.

Working together we can seek to secure equal rights and equal opportunity for all and promote social and economic justice, health and safety in our county, state and nation.

True Essence of Christmas

Related image

This Christmas season, it is important for us to bear in our minds the reason why we are celebrating this yuletide season in the first place. In this month of December, it is a must for us to remember that our Lord came in this world in order to save us from our sins; He came to redeem us from the wickedness of this world.

We also have to recollect the fact that our Lord God is humble being born only in a manger. This is the message that is sent to us - we must learn how to humble ourselves, no matter how rich or financially wealthy we are because Christ himself symbolizes humility. Even though He is a son of God, He did not demanded for a special “birthing place” or become “man” in a wealthy family; instead, He was born in a poor family.

Anyway, the essence of celebrating Christmas season is not to have a house full of Christmas lights, having a tall and beautiful Christmas tree full of gifts underneath it and giving expensive gifts. Christmas basically means sharing what you have, not just the material things but also those that can only be felt like a warm, tight hug, a simple thank you, showing our appreciation to our loved ones and forgiveness among others.

Whichever of these are important to you this holiday season, just remember that it’s the thought that counts and that love is the most important thing in the world. When love governs our hearts and minds, everything will follow and we don’t need to wait for Christmas time to share our love to other people.
